How to Take Advantage of Virgin Voyages Loyalty Match Program

Virgin Voyages just shook up the cruise world again — this time with a groundbreaking Status Match Program that’s being called one of the broadest and most valuable loyalty-match offers in the entire travel industry.

For the first time ever, travelers with elite status from over 35 loyalty programs — including competing cruise lines, major hotel brands, and popular airlines — can instantly match their status and unlock exclusive perks on their very first Virgin Voyages sailing. This announcement reinforces Virgin Voyages’ disruptive approach to cruising, focusing heavily on luxury-style inclusions, adult-only experiences, and elevated service.

What the Status Match Includes

Travelers who complete the status match can enjoy FREE “Blue Extras” perks, including:

– Complimentary specialty coffees & premium teas

– A dedicated Sailor Services concierge

– Complimentary laundry services

– Exclusive cocktail events

– Priority boarding and onboard services (based on level)

These benefits activate on the guest’s next sailing — no additional points, spending levels, or long qualification periods required.

How It Works

Virgin’s status match is available now through January 16, 2026, and it’s designed to be quick and traveler-friendly:

1. Upload proof of loyalty status from a qualifying cruise, hotel, or airline program.

2. Receive confirmation from Virgin Voyages.

3. Book a sailing by March 31, 2026 to unlock your Blue Extras onboard.

Eligible programs span an impressive selection of well-known brands across travel categories, making this one of the most accessible loyalty perks now available in the cruising space.

Why Virgin Voyages Introduced This Program

Competition in the cruise industry has intensified, with brands like Royal Caribbean, Norwegian, and Celebrity rolling out robust loyalty incentives. Virgin Voyages — still a newer player with a rapidly growing fan base — aims to make it easier for frequent travelers to “test-drive” their award-winning product without sacrificing perks they’ve earned elsewhere.

The move comes at a time when Virgin Voyages is:

– Expanding itineraries worldwide

– Introducing its newest ship, Brilliant Lady

– Launching redesigned fare structures with more a la carte options

– Continuing to win accolades, including Cruise Critic’s 2025 Best Cruise Line

This loyalty match creates a fast, frictionless way for curious cruisers to try the brand’s adults-only, elevated-experience model.

Why This Matters for Cruisers

For many travelers, loyalty perks are a major reason they stick with a single brand. Virgin’s new program removes that barrier by allowing guests to sample its luxury-adult-only concept without losing their elite treatment.

This is especially appealing for:

– Travelers wanting a modern, resort-style cruise

– Millennials and Gen Xers who value wellness, food quality, and nightlife

– Clients who want more than “traditional cruising.”

– Repeat cruisers are ready to explore a new brand while keeping their perks

In short: Virgin’s status match is a major invitation for cruisers to upgrade their experience — without having to start from zero.

Final Thoughts

Virgin Voyages has made it clear: they’re doubling down on loyalty, value, and elevated service. By offering one of the industry’s widest and most enticing status match programs, they’ve opened the door for millions of travelers to experience their award-winning ships with added benefits from day one.

If you’ve ever been curious about Virgin Voyages, now may be the perfect moment to cash in your current status and sail like a VIP.

Carnival Cruise 2025: Key Policy Updates You Should Know

Whether you’re a first-time cruiser or a seasoned Carnival fan, it’s important to know that Carnival Cruise Line has recently updated several onboard policies that could impact your next vacation at sea. These changes are part of the company’s ongoing “Have Fun. Be Safe.” initiative, designed to improve the guest experience, safety, and onboard etiquette.

Here’s a breakdown of what’s new and how to cruise smart in 2025:

🔞 Updated Age & Curfew Policy

One of the most notable changes affects solo and youth travelers:

  • Guests must be at least 21 years old to cruise alone.
  • Travelers aged 18–20 must be booked in a cabin with someone 25 or older.
  • Minors (17 and under) are required to return to their cabins or be with a guardian by 1:00 AM unless participating in a supervised youth activity.

👉 What it means: If you’re planning a spring break trip or graduation celebration, make sure your booking aligns with these new-age requirements to avoid surprises at embarkation.

🚫 No-Tolerance Drug Policy

Carnival is reinforcing its federal law-compliant ban on cannabis, including:

  • Marijuana in all forms (even medically prescribed or legal in your home state)
  • THC vapes, edibles, oils, or related paraphernalia

🔒 Violation consequences include: removal from the ship, law enforcement involvement, fines, and even a lifetime ban.

🔇 Restrictions on Personal Music & Fans

To ensure a more peaceful onboard environment, Carnival has banned the following items in public spaces:

  • Bluetooth speakers (used for playing music aloud)
  • Non-battery, hand-held clack fans (popular at parties and in ballroom culture)

These changes are part of efforts to minimize loud or disruptive environments, especially around pool decks and dining areas.

🪑 Pool Chair Time Limit

We’ve all seen it—someone “reserving” a lounger with a towel at sunrise and not showing up for hours. Carnival is cracking down by enforcing a 40-minute time limit for unattended pool loungers.

⏱️ After that, your belongings may be moved so others can enjoy the space.

🌟 Why These Rules Matter

Carnival says these updates are about making the cruise experience more inclusive, safe, and respectful for all passengers. However, some guests have expressed concerns—particularly around how certain cultural expressions (like clack fans and hip-hop music) are being policed.

Whether you’re for or against the new policies, one thing is clear: knowing the rules before you board ensures a smoother, stress-free sailing experience.

🧳 Final Cruise Tips

Before your cruise:

  • Review Carnival’s latest policies on their website
  • Pack smart — leave restricted items at home
  • Download the Carnival Hub App to stay updated with onboard activities and notifications

✈️ What You Need to Know About New Airline Passenger Requirements in 2025

Big changes are taking off for travelers in 2025! Whether you’re planning a quick domestic getaway or an international vacation, it’s important to understand the new travel regulations going into effect this year. Here’s your go-to guide for staying informed and prepared.

🗓️ REAL ID Becomes Mandatory on May 7, 2025

Starting May 7, 2025, all travelers aged 18 and over must present a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or ID to board domestic flights within the U.S.

✅ What Is a REAL ID?

A REAL ID is a federally approved identification card or driver’s license that features a star in the upper-right corner. It’s part of a post-9/11 security measure to strengthen ID verification for air travel.

📋 How to Get a REAL ID

Visit your local DMV with the following:

  • Full legal name and birthdate
  • Social Security number
  • Two proofs of current address
  • Legal presence/lawful status documentation

🕒 Pro Tip: DMV wait times are long—apply early!

🛂 Don’t Have a REAL ID Yet? These Will Also Work:

  • U.S. Passport or Passport Card
  • Global Entry, NEXUS, SENTRI, or FAST trusted traveler cards
  • State-issued Enhanced Driver’s License (EDL)

🌍 International Travel Requirements Are Changing Too

🇬🇧 UK ETA – Effective January 8, 2025

Travelers heading to the United Kingdom will need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before departure. The process is fully digital and designed to speed up immigration checks.

🇪🇺 ETIAS for Europe – Expected May 2025

Planning a trip to Europe? The European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) will be required for U.S. citizens visiting most EU countries. Like the UK’s ETA, it’s a quick pre-travel registration that ensures smoother entry.

✅ Your 2025 Travel Checklist

📌 Apply for a REAL ID well before May
📌 Renew your passport (make sure it’s valid for 6+ months)
📌 Apply online for ETA (UK) or ETIAS (EU) if traveling abroad
📌 Keep up to date with the latest TSA and airline policies

🧳 Final Boarding Call

The skies are open, but the rules are changing. Don’t get caught off guard at the gate—take care of your documentation now so your 2025 travel plans go off without a hitch. ✈️🌍

How a Trump Presidency Could Reshape the Way We Travel

As political shifts occur, the travel landscape often follows suit. If Donald Trump were to take office again, the implications for domestic and international travel could be significant. Drawing insights from past policies and expert opinions, let’s explore potential changes and their impact on the industry.

Here are 5 Ways Travel can be impacted:

1. Tighter Immigration and Border Policies

During Trump’s previous term, border security and immigration were cornerstones of his administration. Policies like the 2017 travel ban targeting specific countries reshaped international travel patterns. If such measures are reinstated, travelers from affected nations might face new visa restrictions, and global tourism to the U.S. could decline as a result.

For travelers, this could mean:

  • Longer processing times for international visas.
  • Heightened airport security measures.
  • Potential restrictions on travel to and from specific regions.

Tip for Travelers: Stay informed about evolving visa requirements and documentation needs to avoid disruptions.

2. Focus on Domestic Infrastructure

Trump’s infrastructure investment plans previously prioritized airports, roads, and bridges, aiming to modernize the U.S. transportation network. A renewed focus in this area could improve the travel experience for domestic tourists, with better connectivity and reduced delays.

Key opportunities include:

  • Upgraded airport terminals and expanded flight routes.
  • Improved highways for road trips across America’s scenic routes.
  • Enhanced rail networks connecting major cities.

Travel Idea: Plan a cross-country road trip to experience America’s vast landscapes, from Route 66 to the Pacific Coast Highway.

3. Shifts in International Relations

Trade wars and geopolitical tensions could impact travel costs and routes. Airlines might adjust their pricing and operations to cope with tariffs or restrictions. Additionally, strained relations with some nations could influence tourism partnerships.

For instance:

  • Rising airfares due to increased operating costs.
  • Changes to codeshare agreements affecting flight availability.

Tip for Budget Travelers: Book flights early and consider budget airlines for international trips to offset potential fare increases.

4. The Role of Sustainability in Travel

Trump’s administration previously rolled back climate regulations, and a similar approach could deprioritize sustainable tourism initiatives. This may affect eco-conscious travelers looking for carbon-neutral flights or green-certified accommodations.

Advice for Eco-Travelers: Seek out independent companies and destinations committed to sustainability, regardless of federal policies.

5. Global Perception of U.S. Tourism

Changes in leadership often influence how the U.S. is perceived abroad. A Trump presidency could deter some international visitors while encouraging others, depending on their views of the administration’s policies.

Consider This: Cultural exchange programs and people-to-people initiatives may be crucial in maintaining global tourism ties, regardless of political shifts.

Final Thoughts

The potential impact of a Trump administration on travel is layered, encompassing everything from visa policies to infrastructure upgrades. For travelers, staying adaptable and informed will be key to navigating the changes. Whether you’re planning an international getaway or exploring domestic gems, understanding the broader political context can help you make the most of your journey.

Haunted Cruise with Captain Jack O. Lantern

It was the night before Halloween, and the SS Spooky Seas was all set for its annual haunted cruise. Passengers boarded with a mix of excitement and trepidation, eager for the spooky adventure that lay ahead.

Captain Jack O. Lantern, a jolly yet eerie figure with a penchant for puns, greeted everyone at the gangplank. “Ahoy, ghost-busters and ghouls! Prepare yourselves for a journey into the unknown…and the very silly!”

As the ship set sail, the crew rolled out the Halloween decorations: cobwebs spun by very real spiders (trained by the cruise line’s pet department), pumpkins carved with comical faces, and skeletons that danced to every step due to hidden springs.

Passengers enjoyed a night of ghost stories, eerie music, and way too much candy corn. Midnight struck, and a thick fog rolled over the deck. The lights flickered, and suddenly, the ship’s loudspeaker crackled to life with an ominous voice, “Welcome to the haunted SS Spooky Seas…or should I say, the Silly Seas!”

Out of nowhere, a ghost appeared—white sheet, cut-out eyeholes, and all. But instead of wails of terror, the ghost burst into a fit of giggles. “Sorry, folks, I can’t keep it up,” the ghost said, ripping off the sheet to reveal none other than Captain Jack O. Lantern. “This cruise is meant for fun, not fear!”

Relieved, the passengers joined in the laughter. The night continued with ghostly karaoke, featuring Captain Jack’s infamous rendition of “I Ain’t Afraid of No Ghost,” and a dance-off between the skeletons and the crew.

The next morning, as the SS Spooky Seas docked, passengers disembarked with fond memories and hearty laughs. Captain Jack waved them off, “Remember, fear is fleeting, but laughter is what haunts us forever!”

And so, the legend of the SS Spooky Seas lived on—not as the scariest, but the funniest cruise on the high seas.

Happy Halloween and smooth sailing! 🎃🚢👻

Are you ready to start cruising again?

I’m keeping my fingers, toes and eyes crossed in hopes of the cruise ships restarting in the U.S. soon. The CDC issued a “No Sail Order” on March 14th, 2020 at the start of the pandemic. The date has been adjusted a few times but is currently set to expire on September 30th just a few days away.

If the “No Sail Order” is lifted, cruising can began as soon as November. Whooo Hooo!

Last week we received promising news from an expert panel set up by Royal Caribban and Norwegian Cruise Lines who developed protocols for a safe and healthy return to cruising. The panel consisted of Scientists, Medical Experts, Health Authorities, key CLIA cruise members and other cruise giants like, Carnival Corporation and MSC’s Blue Ribbon Group.

The panel and cruise operators submitted a detailed 74 page report to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention on enhanced sanitation practices, controlled shore excursions and better protection for their crew and guests.

If approved, the ships can be up and running with the new protocols set in place within 30 days, which would be the end of October. By November they’ll be ready to raise anchors and sailing.
The report focuses on six (6) pillars:

1. Testing , Screening and Exposure Reduction
2. Mandatory Face Mask in Public Spaces and designated areas*
3. Socical Distancing
4. Enhanced Sanitation and Ventilation
5. Response, Contingency Planning and Execution
6. Controlled Destination & Excursion Planning

The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) and the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) are also calling for the restart of cruising in the U.S. Cruising has already resumed in parts of Europe with great success.

Since the shut down of the cruise ships, Florida has lost $3.2 billion in economic activity and 49,500 local jobs paying approxiamtely $2.3 billion in wages as a result of the suspension.

I am highly satisfied with the protocols the panel and cruise lines have submitted to the CDC. My bags and Face Mask are half packed and I’m ready to set sail.

How likely are you to start cruising this year? Leave a response below.

*FYI…If you don’t like wearing a face mask, because you feel it takes away from your personal freedom. For the time being in order to restart cruising and travel, wearing a face mask will be neccessary.

Cruising is discretionary and not mandatory. Perhaps it would be best for you to travel in 2022 or 2023 as hopefully conditions will be much better.

Traveling & The Coronavirus!

Greetings, Travellers!

I think most of you are like me. You’ve been watching the news and your Facebook feed and afterwhile you start to think “Is this how we all become zombies?” Too much negative information eventually starts to feed into the fears of traveling and especially cruising. Yes, your concerns are valid as I see the news with guests not being allowed disembarkation from the cruise ships as well.

I think as of yesterday, there were 300 cases of the coronavirus throughout the US with so far less than 20 deaths. While the news tends to focus on the 15-20 people who have unfortunately died there are 280-285 people who have survived after contracting the virus.

If you look at those numbers, the virus has a 90-95% survival rate and perhaps would be an even higher rate if there were no underlying health conditions.

As a travel professional, I would be remiss in not providing a different perspective that will hopefully ease your concerns.  Being in the travel industry, I understand the heightened sensitivity regarding the coronavirus and my hope is that you will find this information beneficial as you plan your trip.

Before you step foot out your door there are things you can start doing now whether you’re going on vacation, going to work or out into the general public.

PREPARATION PRIOR TO AND DURING YOUR CRUISE*:

  1. Drink lots of water!  Water flushes toxins out your body and assists your immune system by staying hydrated!
  2. Take the “Sunshine Vitamin” – Vitamin D. Vitamin D helps your immune system
  3. Zinc is another immune booster to treat the common cold and preventing and treating pneumonia.
  4. Other great vitamins to take to boost your immune system are Vitamin CVitamin B6 Vitamin E
  5. Exercise regularly. Physical activity may help flush bacteria out of the lungs and airways. This may reduce your chance of getting a cold, flu, or other illness.
  6. Reduce your alcohol intake and smoking. Smoking & drinking can weaken your immune system.  Enjoy your libations in moderation YOU ARE ON A CRUISE TO HAVE FUN! 😀
  7. Carry a travel packet of Clorox wipes and a travel-size bottle of Lysol for your cabin and while in port. Clean counter surfaces, and seats prior to touching. Keep one for the room and in your purse or carrier when you’re visiting the islands.
  8. Carry hand sanitizer and make sure it has an alcohol content of 60% or higher.
  9. Follow CDC guidelines for additional everyday preventative measures:
  • Avoiding close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.  The CDC recommends 20 seconds.

*SPECIAL NOTE: Please check with your doctor to make sure vitamins do not interfere with any of your medications. And to make sure it is safe for you to travel if you have a compromised immune system or underlying health issues.

WHILE ONBOARD – SANITIZING YOUR CABIN:

Although your cabin steward will do a wonderful job of cleaning your stateroom. As an added precaution & for extra peace of mind take some Clorox wipes along with you:

  1. Wipe down the doors and doorknobs in your cabin
  2. Remote controls
  3. TV power on/off buttons
  4. Phones in the rooms
  5. Bathroom countertops
  6. The desk & chair and any area where you’ll lie your phones and other stuff on.
  7. Light switch(s)
  8. Closet doors
  9. If you have a balcony cabin, the balcony doors, table, and chairs.
  10. Spray Lysol or any disinfectant on your sofa and soft goods in your cabin.

THINGS ROYAL CARIBBEAN IS DOING TO KEEP YOU HEALTHY:

  1. A temperature screening will be administered to ALL guests prior to boarding on embarkation day.
  2. All terminal and ship access points are being thoroughly sanitized before and after all sailings.
  3. In addition, high traffic areas onboard, including restrooms and public areas, are undergoing extensive cleaning each evening, over and above the normal procedures.
  4. Daily announcements are being made to remind guests to wash their hands often, use recommended coughing etiquette, and report any illness symptoms immediately.
  5. Likewise, additional medical staff has been added and are providing complimentary medical consultations during each sailing.

WHAT ABOUT ME…I’M NOT GOING ON A CRUISE I’M ONLY TAKING A FLIGHT:

Just like most of the industry, some airlines have increased their sanitation efforts to stop the spread of the virus.  Click here to see the guidelines imposed by the CDC on aircraft cleaning.

Delta started using a fogging technique in February which is a highly effective EPA registered disinfectant on planes arriving in the US from Asia.

“Even if there is a virus in the inanimate environment, it’s not going to jump off the seat and bite you in the ankle,” says Dr. William Schaffner, a professor of medicine at Vanderbilt University’s division of infectious diseases.

“You’ve got to touch it, and then touch your nose or your mouth. So it’s those hands we have that are the important intermediary. And that’s where I would put the emphasis,” he said.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  1. Visit your airline &/or cruise line’s website for the latest travel advisories
  2. Visit the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization’s (WHO) websites as information is constantly being updated.
