Carnival Is Testing Later Hours at Guy’s Burger Joint
Carnival cruisers have been asking one of vacation’s most important questions:
Why can’t I get a Guy’s Burger later?
Well, Carnival may finally be answering those late-night burger prayers.
The cruise line is testing extended evening operating hours for Guy’s Burger Joint aboard Carnival Conquest.
According to the episode, Carnival Brand Ambassador John Heald confirmed the experiment on August 25.
Carnival selected Conquest in part because the ship runs shorter cruises, when passengers may want additional casual dinner options.
And apparently, cruisers approve.
Carnival says the response from guests has been strong enough that the company is considering introducing later Guy’s Burger Joint hours aboard additional ships.
This Is Research I Can Support
Forget clinical trials.
I volunteer for burger trials.
Put me in the control group.
Put me in the test group.
Give me the Plain Jane and some fries, and I will sacrifice myself for science.
The extended operating hours are not intended to replace the main dining room. They simply provide another casual option for guests who may not want a full sit-down meal.
And after spending eight hours on an excursion?
Sometimes you don’t want linen napkins and three courses.
Sometimes you want:
Burger. Fries. Beer. Bed.
In that order.
Now that is Cruise Therapy.
Margaritaville at Sea Is Coming to Galveston
Texas cruisers, break out the flip-flops.
Margaritaville at Sea is officially heading to Galveston.
According to the episode, the Galveston Wharves Board unanimously approved an agreement on August 25 to bring weekly Margaritaville at Sea cruises to Texas beginning in October 2027.
That would make Margaritaville at Sea the seventh cruise line serving the Port of Galveston.
Can I get a big:
YEEHAW!
Which Ship Is Coming?
That part is still a mystery.
At the time of the episode, Margaritaville at Sea had not announced:
- Which ship will sail from Galveston
- The destinations
- Cruise lengths
- Detailed itineraries
Those details are expected during a special announcement in September.
But Texas cruisers already know one important thing:
They are getting another cruise option without necessarily having to fly to Florida.
Somebody just looked at airfare to Miami and said:
Delete. Delete. Delete.
Texas is about to go from:
“Howdy, y’all!”
to:
“It’s five o’clock somewhere, y’all!”
Major U.S. Airlines Are Restoring Flights to Tel Aviv
Now let’s leave the cruise terminal and head to the airport.
Major U.S. airlines are gradually restoring service to Tel Aviv, Israel, following months of disruptions tied to conflict and security concerns in the region.
According to the episode:
Delta Air Lines plans to resume daily service between New York-JFK and Tel Aviv on September 6.
United Airlines plans to restore twice-daily service to Tel Aviv beginning September 8.
American Airlines is taking a slower approach, with its return currently targeted for March 2027.
Travelers Should Continue Monitoring Schedules
These dates are important—but they are not carved in stone.
Airlines continuously evaluate:
- Regional security conditions
- Airspace restrictions
- Government guidance
- Operational considerations
- Passenger and crew safety
Schedules can change quickly.
If you are traveling to Israel or connecting through the region, check your airline’s latest schedule before heading to the airport.
International flight schedules can change faster than cruise passengers when somebody announces free drinks.
U.S. Issues Security Alert for Mexicali, Mexico
Now for an important travel-security story—and geography matters here.
The U.S. Embassy issued a security alert involving Mexicali, the capital of Baja California, directly across the border from Calexico, California.
According to the episode, the U.S. government suspended official travel and government activities in Mexicali on Tuesday because officials described a threat.
The source material did not disclose the specific nature of that threat.
Americans already in Mexicali were advised to:
- Monitor local media
- Remain aware of their surroundings
- Follow official instructions
- Avoid U.S. government facilities
This Alert Is for Mexicali—Not All of Mexico
This part is extremely important.
A security alert for Mexicali does not automatically mean travelers should cancel trips to:
- Cozumel
- Costa Maya
- Cancún
- Puerto Vallarta
- Cabo San Lucas
- Every Mexican cruise port
- Every Mexican resort destination
Mexico is a large country.
We cannot treat travel alerts like somebody spilled red wine across a map and said:
“Cancel everything inside the stain.”
Read the actual alert.
Know the location.
Understand whether it applies to your destination.
Then make an informed decision.
Remembering Dolly Parton and Her Tourism Legacy
We’re ending today’s Boarding Call differently.
The original episode reported the death of Dolly Parton at age 80 in Nashville following a brief battle with cancer.
For generations of fans, Dolly’s name has been connected to music, humor, rhinestones, generosity, and songs that somehow manage to make you smile and cry at the same time.
But because this is Cruise Therapy, there is another part of her legacy worth remembering:
Travel and hospitality.
Dollywood Changed Tourism in East Tennessee
In 1986, Dolly became involved with the attraction that would become Dollywood, helping transform the Pigeon Forge area into one of America’s most recognizable family-tourism destinations.
Over time, the tourism footprint expanded to include:
- Dollywood
- Dollywood’s Splash Country
- Resorts
- Restaurants
- Live entertainment
- Attractions
- Thousands of tourism-related jobs throughout the Smoky Mountains
But what made Dolly’s approach to hospitality special went beyond buildings and attractions.
She understood one of the most important lessons in travel:
People remember how a place makes them feel.
Welcome.
Happy.
Connected.
More recently, the transcript also referenced expansion into additional hospitality ventures, including Dolly’s Tennessean Travel Stops and Nashville’s SongTeller Hotel.
Maybe even a little more hopeful than when they arrived.

Never make a major travel decision based solely on a scary headline.
When you see:
“Security Alert Issued for Mexico”
Click through and determine exactly what the advisory says.
Ask:
- Is the warning for one city?
- One state?
- One region?
- A border area?
- Or the entire country?
Then check official government guidance, including the U.S. State Department travel advisory for your specific destination.
International travelers may also want to consider enrolling in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).
An informed traveler is better equipped to make smart decisions.
And there is a major difference between:
“There is a security alert in Mexicali.”
and:
“Cancel Margarita Monday in Cozumel.”
Those are not the same thing.
