Carnival Cruise Line says complimentary continental room service breakfast is still available aboard its U.S.-based ships.
Passengers can order select breakfast items between 6:00 and 10:00 a.m. without an additional food charge. However, hot sandwiches, expanded selections, and most room service orders placed outside the breakfast window may come with a fee.
That means you can still enjoy coffee and a light breakfast in bed or on your balcony. Just read the menu carefully before ordering enough food to feed the entire hallway.
One minute, you are enjoying a peaceful croissant with an ocean view. The next minute, the bill arrives—and suddenly that croissant has a mortgage.

Virgin Voyages Is Bringing Astronauts Aboard Its Eclipse Cruises
Virgin Voyages is taking its solar eclipse cruises to another galaxy by bringing astronauts, astrophysicists, spaceflight experts, and science communicators aboard.
Special sailings aboard Valiant Lady and Scarlet Lady will include designated eclipse-viewing areas, astronaut question-and-answer sessions, expert commentary and photography guidance.
Guests may be able to experience the eclipse:
- In silence
- With live music
- With scientific narration
- With guidance from space and photography experts
Because nothing says Virgin Voyages like watching the sun disappear while a DJ drops the beat.
The voyages will also offer special shore experiences, including observatory visits, caves and geothermal swimming.
Apparently, a regular sea day was no longer dramatic enough.
Luxury Hotel Brands Are Taking Their Service to Sea
Luxury hotel companies are increasingly moving their brands onto the water—and attracting travelers who once said they would never take a cruise.
Brands such as Ritz-Carlton, Four Seasons, Aman and Orient Express are offering smaller, hotel-inspired yacht experiences with:
- Spacious accommodations
- High-end dining
- Personalized service
- Fewer passengers
- Luxury resort-style amenities
- Carefully planned destination experiences
Some bookings are reportedly averaging around $40,000.
That is not a cruise fare. That is a down payment with a bathrobe.
Many of these guests are loyal hotel customers following a familiar luxury brand onto the water. They may not consider themselves traditional cruisers. Instead, they see the experience as staying at a floating five-star resort that happens to move.
However, if there is a muster drill and someone is making towel animals, you are cruising.

Margaritaville at Sea Plans a Three-Ship Celebration in Nassau
Margaritaville at Sea is planning a major fleet celebration in Nassau on January 28, 2027.
Paradise, Islander and the new Beachcomber are expected to gather in the same destination for the first time. Guests aboard all three ships will receive access to a private Zac Brown Band concert at the Nassau Cruise Port Amphitheater.
The celebration will also include themed sail-away events and a captain’s toast.
Three ships, one concert and thousands of people searching for that lost shaker of salt.
That is not just a port call. It is a floating family reunion with a drink package.
Congress Wants to Keep Phone Calls Off Airplanes
Now, let’s taxi over to the airline news.
Members of Congress are renewing efforts to ban voice and video calls aboard U.S. flights.
Airlines currently prohibit calls through their own policies, but faster satellite Wi-Fi could make onboard calling much easier. The proposed Quiet Skies Act would establish a permanent federal rule.
Finally, a political issue many travelers may be able to agree on.
We already know too much about strangers at the airport. We do not need to hear someone’s entire breakup while trapped in Row 23.
Imagine sitting next to a passenger who says, “No, I can talk. I’m just on the plane.”
No, you cannot.
You may text, scroll, sleep, and silently judge the boarding process like the rest of us.
Supporters believe in-flight calls could:
- Disturb nearby passengers
- Create arguments or conflicts
- Make cabin-crew duties more difficult
- Add unnecessary noise to an enclosed space
At 35,000 feet, the only conversation I want to hear is, “Would you like another beverage?”

Dallas–Fort Worth International Airport has opened a new Chase Sapphire Lounge near Gate D25 in Terminal D.
The two-level lounge includes:
- Nap pods
- Spa treatments
- Showers
- Family areas
- Nursing facilities
- Texas-inspired food
A nap pod and a spa treatment at the airport?
Meanwhile, the rest of us are sleeping across three chairs while holding our luggage in place with one foot.
Access is primarily available to eligible Chase Sapphire Reserve cardholders and qualifying guests.
The lounge may sound luxurious, but remember: no airport lounge is relaxing enough to make you forget that your gate is in another terminal.
